Planning: Colour scheme

It is important to have a colour scheme because it enables a visual way of relating to the artist and their music video. Most album covers have a colour scheme throughout and generally link to the video; this is important as it is a form of branding.

Here is a colour wheel with a few ideas of colours that work well together.

At first, our initial colour scheme we had was pink and blue to represent the two gender differences. However, we decided that this colour scheme was plain and common for the album cover. We researched other album covers to get inspiration from their colour schemes and loked at how the colours complemented their artists brand image.

Here the colour scheme is black and gold, the colours work well together but do give a festive atmosphere. This cover connotes a pop genre music artist.

Here the colour scheme is a bright yellow, the colour is eye catching yet too bright. However it does make the black for 'Kasabian' stand out. We will bear this in mind when creating our colour scheme for our album cover.
