Planning: Ideas & Inspiration

For our video we have created the idea of shooting part of the video with Franki as a girl and the other half of her as a boy. This will match the song title 'Boys and Girls' and is quite new and creative as it is not often used. 


From this idea we have had a few inspirations. Our first inspiration was when Lady GaGa shocked the nation by dressing up as a man at the VMA awards. 

For this she had short hair, minimal make up and wore a suit. We don't intend to make Franki look as manly as she was but we liked GaGa's style. When she dressed like this it created a storm in the media proving popular with her fans so we believe Franki can have the same success with her audience.




Our second inspiration is from Mariah Carey who also dressed as a boy for her video 'Obsessed.'




In this video, she is dressed as both a man and a woman. This will be quite similar to our video but the story line will be different. It makes the video interesting and imaginative and also makes you want to watch it again. That is one factor we want our video to have. Mariah Carey is usually branded as young, glamourous and girly (just like our artist) however in this video we are able to see another side of her which is what we wish to achieve with Franki. 

Another thread of inspiration has come from Beyonces - 'Countdown'. This doesn't contain any male references but we like all the shots used for example the mirrored shots and the split screen.
