Planning: Shot and Editing Ideas

At the beginning of our chosen song, the lyrics are, "Looking in the mirror and I think I'm liking what I see". For this we wanted to use a mirror with lights surrounding it. However, we are struggling to find one. But, if we can't get hold of one, then we have come up with another idea on how to relate to the lyrics in our music video. After watching Jessie J's video to, 'Who You Are' we see how the 'looking in the mirror' effect has been used. The lyrics in this shot was, "Stare at my reflection in the mirror". We think this could work quite well for a shot.

After watching Beyonce's new video to her most recent song, 'Countdown', we noticed the range of shots and editing techniques used throughout. It makes the video more enjoyable and interesting to watch, which is what we are aiming to achieve. The block colours stand out and draw attention to the artist and the split screens creates ideologies within the video.

We particularly found this silhouette shot interesting, and we think it would work well with what we are planning to do.

We also found these two shots interesting too. The bright colours stand out, and the shots are simple yet effective due to the editing. We will consider this when shooting/editing our video.

Once again, these simple shots have been edited to create variety within the music video. It works well with Beyonce's image here, as she looks very glamourous and dainty. We particularly like how the bottom right picture has been edited. It's simple, yet effective. The mirror edit in the bottom left picture has also inspired us, this could work well with one of our dance scenes for our video.

The way this has been shot is inspiring to us, as we are planning on having a location shot in a dance studio. This shot could work well in our video, as Beyonce has been shot looking into the mirror, with a glimpse of the dancers behind her. This shows creativity when shooting the video.
